Tonight I played floor hockey.

My church hosted a game night today. Kids from middle school all the way up to adults in college and beyond were there. Game night reminds me of one-room schoolhouses. One teacher would teach pre-school all the way up to high school.

There are a lot of benefits from learning and living alongside one another. Especially when there's a range of ages.

A range of ages comes a range of perspectives.

Society splits ages up too often and it's not good for kids who come from smaller families. I've noticed kids who come from larger families tend to be well-rounded and empathetic. The same goes for kids that grew up in a church where kids and adults co-exist and speak with one another.

What happens is kids learn how to be mature like adults and the adults learn how to loosen up as the kids do. A balancing act happens. I've noticed that I used to be excited about things like game night, but not as much.

Those kids taught me that it's okay to be excited about things. It's okay to want things and to ask for them. It's okay to be genuine.

What do I have to lose?
